There is no universal winner among DHL, FedEx and UPS for express shipments from China. Compare the exact service available for the origin, destination postcode, packed shipment and commodity. A carrier that suits one order can be a poor choice for another because coverage, chargeable weight and receiving requirements change.

Make one shipment brief for all three requests

Provide the same collection address, destination address, ship date, commodity, customs value and final dimensions. Include the gross weight of every piece and any batteries, liquids or special handling needs. Do not compare a one-carton quotation with another provider's unverified product-only weight.

State whether the buyer expects delivery charges and import charges to be prepaid. Distinguish the transportation payer from the duty-and-tax payer. Otherwise one apparent saving may simply move a bill to the customer.

Use the same currency and quote date. Account discounts can differ from published rates, so keep the actual quotation alongside the public service information.

Check the current China-origin offer

FedEx's China rate page separates services, regions and surcharge information, and directs customers to account-based quotations. A published rate sheet is a starting reference, not proof of the amount any particular seller will pay.

UPS's China shipping-rate resources and DHL Express's 2026 China service guide should likewise be read with the conditions of the selected service. Brand-level claims about speed do not establish a delivery commitment for every postcode.

Ask which service code was quoted. Two offers from the same carrier can have different delivery priorities, commodity acceptance and clearance arrangements. Record that code rather than retaining only the carrier name in the comparison sheet.

Compare billed weight before comparing the total

Inspect the measured dimensions, divisor, rounding and minimum charge. Packaging designed around one service can be less economical on another if its charging or handling conditions differ.

For an illustrative bulky sample, calculate the chargeable basis using each actual quote's rules. Then add the applicable quoted surcharges. Do not apply one carrier's dimensional formula to all three just to make the spreadsheet look consistent.

Also check multi-piece treatment. A quotation based on the shipment total may not reproduce a calculation made separately for each carton. Ask the provider to show the basis if the totals are materially different.

Evaluate customs and delivery as operating tasks

Check what standard clearance includes and which events can attract additional fees. Ask who handles a request for product information, whether the consignee needs an importer account and how a rejected duty payment is escalated.

At delivery, consider address type, signature options, appointment needs and the customer's ability to receive the package. The fastest quoted service is not useful if its delivery arrangement does not fit a closed business or an unavailable recipient.

For China-side dispatch through FulfillNexa by SBT, maintain one approved order record for whichever carrier is selected. That keeps the contents, customs data and customer promise aligned when carrier choices change between orders.

Use measured trial results without inventing a ranking

Run a controlled trial on the lanes that matter to the business. Record collection acceptance, delivery date, exceptions, billed cost and the time spent resolving issues. Compare similar destinations and products instead of mixing urban documents with remote-area parcels.

Keep sample size and date visible. Five successful shipments show what happened to those five shipments; they do not prove a global delivery percentage. Separate normal deliveries from cases where incomplete data or a consignee problem caused the delay.

Review claims and service-guarantee terms independently. A refund of eligible transportation charges is not the same as reimbursement for every commercial consequence of a late order.

The result should be a routing rule, not a trophy. One service may suit urgent replacements, another a particular weight band, and another a destination where its quoted delivery arrangement fits better. Recheck those rules when rates, surcharges or acceptance conditions change.
