Setting up Amazon FBM fulfillment from China starts with the seller’s eligibility, shipping origin and customer promise. A warehouse’s ability to pack a parcel does not establish that the proposed route meets the rules of a particular Amazon marketplace or seller program.
Confirm those conditions first, then connect orders, inventory, warehouse release and carrier evidence. Keep the seller responsible for the settings and commercial decisions that cannot be delegated to a physical fulfillment provider.
Verify the account and route before accepting orders
Identify the marketplace, account, product categories, shipping origin and proposed carrier service. Check current handling, tracking, cancellation and returns requirements for that exact arrangement.
Amazon’s Fulfilled by Merchant overview explains seller-controlled fulfillment and delivery settings. Its program descriptions do not establish universal eligibility for every China-origin route or access to every domestic shipping tool.
Avoid selecting a short handling time simply because a competitor displays it. The warehouse release process, parcel acceptance and actual international route must support the customer-facing promise. Include the effect of held stock, nonworking days and route-specific acceptance restrictions.
Map the listing to the physical unit
Create an approved mapping between the Amazon listing, seller SKU, warehouse SKU, variant and pack quantity. Confirm whether a listed quantity means one item, one set or one multipack.
Check product identity at receiving, not only at dispatch. Two cartons with similar retail packaging can contain different sizes or versions. Record discrepancies before inventory is offered for sale.
Define saleable and held states. Returns awaiting inspection, damaged packaging and goods without approved product information should not automatically enter the available balance.
Control the order-release boundary
An incoming order needs validation, a stock reservation and a release decision. Unknown SKUs, incomplete addresses and unresolved product restrictions belong in an exception queue with an owner.
Decide how buyer-requested cancellations reach the warehouse. Before release, the integration may stop future work. During picking or after packing, operations must return a clear result. After carrier handoff, the request needs the applicable post-dispatch process rather than an inaccurate “cancelled” status.
Test duplicate order delivery and a failed acknowledgement. The same customer order must not create two reservations or two packages because a connector retried.
Distinguish packing from carrier acceptance
Use separate timestamps for pack completion, label creation, physical handoff and the relevant carrier event. An internal warehouse reference is not automatically customer-usable tracking.
For an illustrative order, packing finishes at 14:20 and the carrier accepts the parcel at 17:10. If the integration confirms shipment at label creation at 14:05, it is reporting a different event. Decide which actual evidence supports confirmation under the current marketplace requirements.
GS1 EPCIS provides a standard for exchanging visibility events. Whether the operation uses EPCIS or a simpler schema, the event names and evidence must remain explicit.
Establish returns and customer-service ownership
Agree who monitors customer messages, investigates missing tracking and authorizes returns or refunds. Physical inspection, customer-service decisions and marketplace account actions are separate responsibilities.
For FulfillNexa, destination-country delivery points are not overseas return or inspection receiving sites. A seller considering a separately appointed local provider must establish that provider’s address, scope and responsibilities independently. Goods returning to an agreed China operation need an authorized receiving and disposition process.
Do not advertise one universal return route for all products and markets. Product restrictions, customer rights and current marketplace rules can change the appropriate response.
Run a complete order test
Before general release, test a normal order, an unavailable item, a cancellation, a split package and a tracking exception. Reconcile the listing inventory, warehouse quantities, order status and customer-visible evidence after each test.
Keep the resulting checklist with the seller’s approved settings and route documents. That package gives the team a defined operating basis and a clear point to revisit when Amazon, the carrier or the product changes.
