Choose a shipping method from China by eliminating services that cannot handle the goods or meet the receiving requirement, then compare complete cost among the feasible options. Express, air cargo, sea freight and combined routes solve different problems. A mode comparison is useful only when it leads to an executable collection, import and delivery plan.
Establish the shipment facts once
Prepare one brief with the cargo-ready date, product descriptions, final packed pieces, gross weights, dimensions, customs value and origin. Name the collection address and final receiving location. Identify regulated contents and any special handling restrictions before requesting quotations.
Distinguish an individual customer parcel from a stock replenishment shipment. They can use different transport products, declarations and receiving processes even when they contain the same SKU.
If a supplier cannot provide the final packed measurements, obtain them before making a binding comparison. Product catalogue dimensions are not a substitute for the outside dimensions of transport-ready cargo.
Screen modes against the commercial problem
Express is worth evaluating for suitable parcels and integrated delivery needs. Air cargo can serve business freight with different delivery boundaries and handling arrangements. Sea freight may suit inventory that can tolerate the complete replenishment cycle. Rail or combined services require a feasible route and clear transfer responsibilities.
The labels do not establish a fixed price order. Cargo density, shipment size, minimum charges and destination handling can change the result. IATA's tariff guidance explains why chargeable weight matters for air cargo; other modes use their own charging bases.
Use a different decision for a fragile bulky product than for a dense replacement part. The first may need a packing and handling solution; the second may be driven by the cost of an operational interruption.
Put import responsibility beside the transport decision
Identify who is entitled and prepared to import the goods, who makes the declaration and who pays the applicable charges. Verify product requirements, classification, origin and valuation through the destination's official rules and the responsible professional.
Do not assume that a low-value parcel is automatically duty-free, that a door-delivery quotation includes every tax or that a transit country changes the goods' origin. Those assumptions can produce a shipment that is cheap to dispatch but difficult to release.
Collect the documents required for the actual movement. The IATA air-waybill resource describes one transport document's role; it does not replace the commercial invoice, product evidence or other destination-specific requirements.
Price to the same endpoint
List collection, preparation, export handling, main carriage, import handling and final delivery. Add insurance or value-added work only where it has been selected and defined. Mark unresolved charges instead of assuming they are included.
Record quotation validity, currency and conditions for changes. A dated estimate is not a standing price. Maersk's quote-request guidance shows the shipment details and effective dates needed for a specific ocean offer.
For FulfillNexa by SBT's China-side warehousing and preparation, specify the release task and connect its charges to the outward shipment. That prevents warehouse work from being either omitted or counted twice in the transport comparison.
Check packaging and receiving together
The package must protect the product through the selected handling chain and be acceptable to the recipient. Include labels, piece identification, lifting needs and stacking restrictions. A container load, a shared consolidation and a parcel network can expose goods to different handling patterns.
Ask the destination warehouse about appointments, carton restrictions and unloading. For residential or oversized deliveries, define the actual handover location. Delivery to an address should not be assumed to include assembly, stairs or carrying goods through a narrow entrance.
Approve a plan with observable milestones
Before release, confirm goods readiness, booking acceptance, document review and destination contacts. Then track physical handovers, departure, release and delivery separately. Use those events to update customers rather than treating a created tracking number as evidence of movement.
Keep a fallback for a failed acceptance or an estimate that no longer meets the business deadline. State who can authorize a changed route and additional cost.
After receipt, reconcile the quote, final invoice and delivery outcome. The completed shipment becomes evidence for the next decision. A general shipping guide can organize those decisions; it cannot substitute one universal rate or transit promise for the actual cargo and destination.
