FBA prep from China should start with the seller's current Amazon shipment requirements and end with a documented handoff. The aim is to make units identifiable, protected and correctly assigned to their inbound shipment. No preparation provider can guarantee Amazon acceptance or zero receiving problems.

Amazon's current preparation guide explains that barcode choice and product-specific packing requirements matter. Check the destination marketplace and current Seller Central instructions for the exact SKU; do not assume every product uses an FNSKU or that one country's carton limits apply everywhere.

Agree the work before inventory arrives

Create one approved record per sellable SKU and condition. Include the seller's barcode file, a product photograph, pack dimensions, any expiration or batch information, packaging instructions and the authorized quantity. If products contain batteries, liquids or other regulated components, complete the relevant eligibility review before routine preparation begins.

The seller should own listing and shipment approvals. The warehouse should receive only the permissions it needs, not unrestricted account access or shared passwords. If an operator helps prepare shipment data, the seller still verifies the destination, quantities and current rules.

Barcode replacement must follow the seller's approved barcode configuration. Do not cover mandatory product information or authentication labels indiscriminately. A label should be readable after final packaging, not only before the bag or protective layer is applied.

For sets, confirm which components form one sellable unit and how the set remains together. A bundle's sales description, inventory deduction and physical pack must agree. Keep an exception route for incomplete sets rather than shipping them as if they were complete.

Do not turn a checklist into universal limits

Carton weight, dimension, heavy-lift labeling, pallet configuration and appointment rules depend on the current Amazon requirements and shipment type. Record the applicable specification in the work order. A generic “23 kg maximum” copied from a blog is not an adequate release rule for every destination and exception.

Wood packaging needs a material-specific review. Raw-wood pallets and crates may be subject to ISPM 15 requirements; processed-wood exemptions and destination rules must be checked. Do not assume that every wooden component needs the same treatment or that a warehouse-created certificate replaces an authorized mark.

After preparation, reconcile unit totals against carton contents and the approved shipment plan. Keep photographs of representative finished units and carton labels, and record who approved any rework. If a supplier changes the package after the sample was approved, reassess the packed dimensions and barcode placement.

Choose transport only after the finished cargo is measured. Confirm the importer, customs broker, commercial invoice, delivery booking and destination responsibilities. An Amazon fulfillment center address is not a substitute for an importer arrangement.

FulfillNexa's Dongguan warehouse is the 8,000 m² ecommerce operating site with multiple loading docks. Shenzhen's 3,000 m² site focuses on oversized cargo and transshipment. The shipment plan should identify any physical transfer between them, including responsibility and cost.

Handling a receiving discrepancy

Keep the supplier receipt, preparation records, carton mapping and carrier evidence together. These records help investigate a shortage or damaged carton; they do not guarantee a reimbursement. Separate the cause—supplier shortage, packing error, transport loss or receiving discrepancy—before deciding the remedy.

FAQ

Does every FBA unit need an FNSKU label?

Not universally. The seller must confirm the current barcode eligibility and settings for that product and marketplace.

Is FBA prep the same as freight to Amazon?

No. Preparation, export transport, customs clearance and final delivery are separate scopes unless the quotation expressly combines them.

Can prep guarantee no receiving rejection?

No. The provider can document checks and correct exceptions, but Amazon and customs make their own acceptance decisions.

What determines the prep completion date?

Receiving readiness, approved label files, product condition, work complexity and the agreed capacity plan. Confirm timing in the work order.
